General News

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, You are serving the Lord Christ.  Colossians 3:23, 24b

With more wintry weather we are heading into the last week of the school for 2022. We give thanks and say “great is your faithfulness” in all the work that could be done during this school year.  God has provided for staff and students in their work.  We pray that he continues to do this in the coming year.

With our first inclement weather day behind us it is good to remind you that we plan to make the call by 6:00 a.m. in the morning.   Your venues to find out if school is on can be found on our website www.johncalvin.ca or on our school Instagram page.

This week we heard of the passing of the grandfather of some of our students.  Br. Art Hordyk was called to glory.  We take comfort in the resurrection of the dead and life eternal.  We pray that God will comfort the Hordyk, Ravensbergen, and North families as they gather at the graveside today.

We hope to have a Christmas assembly at 11:20 in the gym on Friday.   The assembly should end around 12:00.  This means the busses will leave shortly thereafter. Everyone is welcome to attend the assembly as we share in the miracle of our Saviour’s birth.

While you have your calendars out, we hope to have a New Year assembly on January 9, 2023.  This assembly will start shortly after school starts at 8:00.

This coming Sunday (December18) Mr. Breukelman hopes to celebrate his birthday. We wish Mr. Breukelman birthday blessings. We enjoy his wit and enthusiasm with which he embraces his job each and every week! May God continue to bless you in your task here at John Calvin Christian School.

Our school will have its first School Spirit Day on Thursday.   We hope to have a festive/ugly sweater dress-up day.   I’m sure we’ll see some creativity from the students and staff.

I believe that is all for this week.  May God be praised through our worship this weekend!   JVI

Bonjour, tout le monde. Yes, we are learning so much in French class; c’est fantastique! In Bible History we could hear how the LORD used Joseph to bring about His plan to save His people. The children thoroughly enjoy the novel ‘Stone Fox’. Ask us about our fun phys.ed classes! We are writing acrostic poems about Christmas. The LORD, in His goodness, sent His Son. Christ went from the cradle to the cross so we might be saved from sin and punishment. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. We have come to the end of the respiratory system unit in Science and hope to have a test next week. Check the agenda for the date. We continue to pray for healing for Miss. B. Praying for Waverly and Emmaline as they mourn the loss of their great-grandfather, Mr. Hordyk. We want to thank the Ladies’ Auxiliary for the wonderful pizza lunch, snack and juice.
