Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,… You are serving the Lord Christ.  Colossians 3:23, 24b

What joy we have as Christians.   Christ came into the world to redeem His people!  May God’s word shine brightly in the world during this Christmas season. “Glory to God in the Highest!”  We enjoyed this message at the Christmas assembly.

Mr. Witten has his birthday in the holidays.  He hopes to celebrate his birthday on January 3rd.  We are thankful for his contributions to JCCS.  We wish him God’s continued blessings in the upcoming year.  Mrs. Visser will also celebrate her birthday during the holidays. Her birthday is on January 7th.  Happy birthday and we pray that God will continue to bless you in your task here.

On January 9th we hope to return to school. We will have an assembly first thing, starting at around 8:10.   We welcome everyone to this assembly.

Finally, we wish you all the Lord’s blessings during this holiday season.  Wishing you all a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Kindergarten

This is the last Chronicle entry for kindergarten for this year. Looking back we, as teachers, can reflect and marvel at the growth of all the kindergarten students since the beginning of the school year. But more importantly, we can marvel at the Lord’s faithfulness over these past few months. The Lord guided each of our steps and allowed each of us to attend JCCS the last 4 months! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Mrs. Visser and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. JB/SV

Grade 1

We had a busy and fulfilled week! Thursday’s dress up day was a hit and the students looked great in all their outfits. Thank you for helping make the dress up day a success!

We look forward to celebrating the birth of our Saviour this weekend and we pray that we will be blessed with the reminder of the true meaning of the season once again! May you all be kept in His care over the next two weeks.

We will be having spelling and memory work when we return:

Memory Work: Hymn 56:3

Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year everyone! KK EVG

Grade 2

What an exciting week we’ve enjoyed in Grade 2! After reading Jan Brett’s “Gingerbread Baby”, we spent some of our Language Arts time working with the literary elements of the book. Of course, we had a number of fun activity pages to go along with it as well! Both classes also finished reading the book “The One and Only Ivan”, a fabulous novel based on the true story of a silverback gorilla that spent 27 years of his life living in a mall before being moved to a much better home at a large zoo.

In Bible classes, we focused on the Christmas story; studying God’s redemptive plan since Creation. What a merciful God we serve! May He bless you all with a beautiful Christmas break, celebrating His amazing work of salvation! BV/RG

Grade 3

What a fun-filled week we had. Different seating arrangements were enjoyed by all. We could do fun math, fun gym, create a poster, write a poem, listen to music, enjoy a good story, and enjoy the movie “Balto”. And yes, we did work as well. Great job working on your math test and Science quiz, boys and girls. We could spend time singing about the birth of our Saviour, and listen to a Bible story about it as well. Thank you Mrs. Tesfaye and Mrs. Ludwig for leading the assembly. Thank you dear parents for the lovely well wishes and gifts. It is not needed, but appreciated. We pray for a safe holiday for everyone. May you enjoy the riches of the greatest Gift of all. What a privilege it is to celebrate Christmas and its true meaning. Wishing you the Lord’s blessing for 2023.   Miss B., Mrs. Poort, and  Mrs. VanBrederode

Grade 7

Next year in Science we plan to test the structural efficiency of our stir stick bridges using weights and pavers. In connection with the Science, please check in with your child and ask how their Science Fair project is progressing. In History we will learn where the Loyalists settled in Upper/Lower Canada and why their history matters to the Niagara Region. After we are done our “Martin Luther” unit in Church History, we will watch the 2003 theatrical version of his life, “Luther”. Enjoy your break.

With a flurry of due dates and tests Gr. 8 has reached the finish line! It was especially fun to finish the week with an informal baking contest. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. Cheers, Mrs. Ludwig, Mrs. Tesfaye, & Mr. J–
