My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour…, Luke 1:46b-47
That’s a wrap! Just like that, we are at the last Chronicle for JCCS for 2023 – 2024. Reaching the end of the year allows us to reflect on the year and the blessings and challenges that have presented themselves. In all this we go back to our theme text which tells us to Magnify God for what he has done in our lives.
Students will head home at noon after the assembly with their report cards. Please take time to read through them and discuss them with your children. A lot of work and effort was put into the production of these reports and they serve as a way to guide in the further education of these covenant children.
As the year draws to a close, it is time to bid farewell to five staff members who have contributed significantly to our school community.
Mrs. Deboer has commendably taught grade 7 Bible and church history over the past year. Thank you, Mrs. Deboer, for your dedicated efforts and commitment.
Mrs. DeVries has been a tremendous help in the office, stepping in during Mrs. Elgersma’s medical leave. We deeply appreciate her willingness to support the school in a time of need.
We also say goodbye to Mrs. Ludwig, who has served as VP relief over the past several years, sharing her expertise in math and science and even helping to start a robotics club. We hope to continue this initiative in the coming year, despite her absence. Thank you, Mrs. Ludwig, for your invaluable contributions.
Mrs. VanAmerongen will be pursuing new opportunities next year. We are grateful for her years of dedicated service to the school and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Rylan Vanderwoude, who has been a versatile and dedicated member of our team, providing support in Grade 8, Grade 7, and the resource department. We wish him blessings as he completes his teacher training in B.C
We say farewell to Cameron and Jace Tenhage as they will be leaving JCCS and attending ACRES in September. We will miss you but pray that you soon feel at home in ACRES. We also thank Troy Tenhage for his work on the JCCS board over the years.
The class lists will be going out today. We have sent along with the lists the Class Redistribution Policy. A lot of effort was put into producing these lists and the teachers have worked with this policy to ensure that a balanced class has been created.
Graduation will happen on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Smithville Canadian Reformed Church. We invite all of you to this event. The students and their parents will be attending a post-grad party at the Jansen residence.
If you still have some books from the library that have not made their way back, we will be in school for the first few days of next week. Please bring them in so that they can be sorted for the beginning of the next school year.
We have the final figures in for Hike for Hospice. We raise a whopping $28,825.10. We’re thankful that we could support this organization as they help those in need. May God bless the work that is done at McNally House.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers and people who have worked hard behind the scenes to make this year a success. With all the committee work and volunteer work we see tremendous blessings in the operation of the school.
Again, it has been a pleasure to serve the community over the past year. I thank you for your continued support and trust. May you all be refreshed and rejuvenated over the summer. May God continue to protect and sustain all of you and we look forward to seeing you, the LORD willing, on September 3rd as we start the 2024-2025 school year!

Kindergarten
At the beginning of this school year, we began learning our school theme text which was from Luke 1: 46b-47 – “My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour”. We learned what it means to magnify the Lord and how we can praise His name. As we come to the end of the year, we can once again marvel at our God and Saviour. He remained faithful to us His children. He watched over us and kept us safe. He granted us the energy we needed to learn all of our letters and their sounds, our numbers and how to do addition and subtraction and so much more! How great is our God! Praying that you all have a safe and relaxing summer break where you can continue to marvel at God’s goodness and faithfulness. JB

We pray that God will be with them (and you!) this summer as we rest before the new school year begins. Thank you for all your support and encouragement! MP and RG
