This week is also a theme week. We will be focusing on Canada’s Big Four. We have strayed from agriculture to wildlife this year. It should beveary fun, bearly a challenge,a moose do project, and hopefully wolve learned a lot by the end of the week!
With the library program back in swing we ask you to dig out your old library bags. They are used to ensure that the books are protected as they are transported back and forth from school. As you can imagine, transport can be a risky enterprise in a students backpack.
We hope to have a Thanksgiving Assembly on Friday at 1:45 in the gym. You are more than welcome to join us!
We are working on plans for the 60th anniversary celebration for the school. If you are interested in participating in the coordination of this event, please contact me.
I believe that is all for the week. May the LORD bless and provide in this week as well.

Kindergarten
We had a good week in Kindergarten! We enjoyed a nature walk while collecting leaves outside for our fall craft . In science we ended the week with a taste test experiment, where we learned dark chocolate is not something our taste buds like in kindergarten. We still need a few more All About Me pages, please look through your child’s agenda bag to see if you have one to finish. Remember to bring in mission money on Thursday for KA and Friday for KB. Next week is the big four Ontario iconic animals theme week where we will be learning about the moose. If you have any moose books, stuffed animals etc please send along to school. Have a great weekend.

Grade 1
We learned about Jacob and Esau and how the LORD used the wrong they did to bring about His plan. In math class we are looking at many different shapes. Ask us about it. The children are learning to blend the letter sounds together to read words. As teachers, it is so neat to see the look of excitement on their faces as they READ words! Keep up the great effort, boys and girls. The children received their very own library bag to carry their books to and from school. This will help keep the library books in good condition. Next week will be a fun week. We will be learning about an iconic animal of Ontario. Ask us on Monday which animal we will be learning about.
Grade 2
This week the students enjoyed starting a new reader in Language Arts; and are looking forward to reading some new tales! In Math, we continued with adding and subtracting, looking specifically at fact families. We are coming close to the end of our first Science unit. Next week we are excited for our theme week on four iconic animals of Ontario! Grade 2A will be focusing on wolves, and Grade 2B will be focusing on beavers. We’re excited to do some fun activities connected with these animals! Have a great weekend! MB & BV
Grade 3
Guess where we went this week? Yup, we travelled back in time! We had the privilege of visiting Westfield Heritage Pioneer Village. We were blessed with beautiful weather and quaint surroundings. We visited a one room schoolhouse. Worked on slates. We did our chores on the farm. We even got to act out a story. Ask your child all about it. We thank our bus driver, Mrs. Brandy Stieva for commuting us safely to and fro.
In our math classes, we started a new unit in addition. We learned some strategies to help us with our mental math.
John Eliot continues to have our attention in Church History. Stay tuned for a quiz. Please check your child’s agenda.
That’s it for now.

Grade 4 had an excellent and enjoyable trip to Rock Point on Wednesday – we’re sure you heard all about it! The weather was great so the students even enjoyed some swimming! Thanks to our parent volunteers for accompanying us. Grade 4B wrote several tests and quizzes this week. At the time of writing, some of these have not been returned yet, so look for those to come home early next week. As always, please sign and return these tests and quizzes. Cross country practices will be coming to an end this week as the Grades 5-8 have their meets at the end of the week. Some students are sure going to miss these! Next week we look forward to a theme based week about specific Canadian animals. 4A will learn more about wolves and 4B about beavers. Next week looks to be a busier one. We have an outing on Wednesday to Latitude Air Ambulance to find out more about flight, the air ambulance and being a Christian pilot. Twelve of the students will be participating in the cross country run on Thursday. So follow the agenda schedule for there will be many things that the students will need to do on Friday. Please make sure that your child is properly prepared for quizzes, some study habits just aren’t cutting it. Many students are ready to do this on their own but some still need some checking and reinforcing. Next week also brings us to Thanksgiving already! Have a blessed weekend. CV MJ
Grade 6B
Once again we were able to enjoy some beautiful warm weather. It makes recess (and gym class) most enjoyable. We are soaking these days up, fully realizing that cooler (and wetter) fall weather will be soon upon us. This past week the students have written a number of tests. Please check your child’s agenda for these as it is our practice to have you sign them and return them. This enables us to know that you are aware of how your child is doing, test wise. In Bible class we are continuing with our studies of the lives of Adam and his descendants. The age to which people lived has been an interesting discussion. Next week we will have a very busy week with a field trip to Latitude, Cross Country, Theme Week, and a Thanksgiving Day Assembly. Have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Sunday. SO/EV

Grade 7A
This past week we learned how man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart as we transitioned from King Saul to the anointed David. In Geography we examined how we divert rivers and bodies of water through a study of the Three Gorges Dam and the Aral Sea disaster. We’ll be introduced to Mr. R. VanWinkel next week along with his troubled domestic situation. Hopefully things will smooth out and won’t be too prickly as we discuss visual and tactile texture in Art. Enjoy your weekend.
Grade 7B
What a beautiful beginning to October we’ve been blessed with! The students took advantage of the lovely weather by employing their learned soccer skills in some scrimmages outside in P.E class this week. Grade 7 has also been working hard on learning some new, challenging concepts (such as adjectives and irregular verbs) in French and have come a long way. Next week, we will begin wrapping up that French chapter with some review and a final project. Have a great weekend!
Grade 8
First of all, we would like to thank all those who volunteered their time at the concession stand for the soccer tournament last Saturday. It was a great success and a special thank you to those who organized and spearheaded the event! A number of things to keep in mind for next week. On Tuesday, we will have a math quiz on the first 6 lessons of our integer chapter. On Wednesday, 8B will have a Geography Test. On Thursday, we will have our regular vocabulary quiz. On Friday, students will be presenting their demonstrative speeches to the class. Please make sure you have all the materials/paraphernalia that you need at the school for Friday morning. Enjoy your weekend! RT/TB
