“Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.” Job 28:28
With hearts full of joy, we welcome this special season celebrating the birth of our Savior. As we reflect on the theme of “Wisdom” that guides our school, we are reminded of the wise men who, guided by a star, sought the newborn king. Their journey reminds us that true wisdom lies in recognizing and worshipping the Lord. Let us rejoice in His birth and continue to seek His presence in our lives, growing in knowledge and reverence for Him.
On January 6th, when school starts up again the gym shorts portion of the dress code will be enforced. This means that students from grades 5 – 8 will need to wear either the old JCCS gym shorts or the new Land’s End gym shorts. Please ensure that your child has the right gear. Shorts are still available in the office.
We have some birthdays for staff during the holidays! First on December 31st, Mrs. Schulenberg will celebrate her birthday, and turn over a new year at the turn of the year! On January 3rd, Mr. Witten will celebrate his birthday. We give thanks for the blessings that we have received from these two staff members and pray that God will continue to bless them in the upcoming year!
With these words we wish you all a blessed Christmas and a joyous new year. We hope to see the students back in 2025, D.V. You are welcome to our New Year’s assembly at 8:15 in the gym.

Wow, we can’t believe we just finished our last week in 2024. We are so proud of the students for their hard work over the last few months. We got to celebrate this week with a festive dress up day. The kids were able to decorate sugar cookies and enjoy singing with Miss B’s Grade 3 class. We also came to the end of our unit on numbers 0-10 and are excited for our next unit on shapes! Thank you to everyone for the gifts and treats that were brought in this week. We are looking forward to having some time off and we hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! Don’t forget to join us on January 6 for our assembly in the morning, to welcome back everyone in the new year. See you all in 2025! MV/DV
Grade 1
We had a fun-filled week in grade 1. From having a festive dress up day to making snowflakes using toothpicks and marshmallows (and eating them too), reading and working with the book ‘The Mitten’, and fun math, it was so much fun. We could finish the week listening to the Bible story about the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. What a blessing to know we are between two Christmases. Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha. Wishing you all a joyous Christmas and the Lord’s blessings for the new year.
Grade 2
It was exciting time in Grade 2 this week. We spent some of our Language Arts time working with both the literary elements of the book Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, as well as working through a few fun activity pages to go along with it. In Math we continue
to work on learning how to tell time, and some strategies for that. In Bible classes, we focused on five points for advent, hope, peace, joy, love, and Christ as the final and foremost focus as we are looking forward to Christmas Day. Praying for a blessed and
beautiful Christmas break, celebrating Him. BV&MB
Grade 3
The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which He will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.” Psalm 132: 11-12. We thank the LORD that His promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, Our Lord! We also know that He will come back on the clouds of heaven. Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha! It was a busy but beautiful week. Thank you, parents and students, for all your cards, gifts and encouragement. Have a blessed Christmas!
Just a reminder that we have skating the first week back, Wednesday, January 8th from 1:15-2:15. Please come and join us!

Grade 4
It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of 2024 already! Grade 4B said good-bye to Mrs. Baartman with a Christmas party on Wednesday. We’re glad that we will still see her around the school in the new year! Many thanks for all the holiday greetings and gifts we have received! We wish everyone an enjoyable and restful holiday as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour and look forward to seeing the students again in 2025 DV.
Grade 5
We have come to the end of school for 2024! We are thankful for God’s blessings and guidance thus far. When we come back, we will continue learning about more of Jesus’ parables and teachings. Grade 6A
In language arts, the students enjoyed stepping into Annemarie’s shoes and writing a formal letter to Papa. In social studies students finished their presentations on Canada’s trading partners. Creativity was in full swing as they built marshmallow snowmen—what a sight! Prizes were handed out for the tallest snowman, the most unique creation, and the best-written paragraph describing their process. Their hard work and imagination truly shone, and we’re excited to share the results on Instagram!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support. We wish you a blessed Christmas, and the LORD’s abundant blessings in 2025! CVA/MJ
Grade 6B
And just like that, it’s time for the Christmas holidays. The students have been incredibly busy this past week with completing their Bird Projects and writing both a Math test and a Bible test. It will be good to have a break from our school work and instead, spend some time with family and friends rejoicing in the celebration of our Lord and Saviour. Both of us, Mrs. Oosterhoff and Mrs. VanEgmond, wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year. SO/EV

Grade 7A
By God’s grace we were able to complete another week of work. We are indeed thankful for what we have been able to accomplish since work began in September. After the Break, we will return to plane geometry, the Reformation in Germany, and our study of climate factors. Please remind your child to consider their Science Fair project, conducting experiments and recording data. The data will need to be collected in just under a month’s time. Enjoy your Break.
Grade 7B
Grade seven had an extremely busy, productive week finishing up many projects before the break. The students completed a paragraph describing their bedroom in French, drew creative drawings to represent our church history stories, and are working hard on a graphic novel project. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to a break. Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas break!
Grade 8
We did it! Enjoy a wonderful Christmas break as you celebrate the birth of our Savior and welcome the new year. TB/RT
