“Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.” Job 28:28
As we reach summer vacation, it’s a time for reflection on the year’s blessings and challenges. Throughout it all, we’re reminded of our theme from Job 28:28, which tells us that “the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”
Students will head home at noon after the assembly with their report cards. Please take the time to read through them and discuss them with your children. A lot of effort went into producing these reports, and they serve as a guide for your children’s further education.
As another school year draws to a close, we bid farewell to several cherished members of our JCCS staff. Hannah Bartels, our youngest addition this year, tackled the grade 7 class with remarkable grace and capability. We wish her and her husband God’s blessings as they prepare to welcome a new family member. Esther VanEgmond and Simone Oosterhoff teamed up to tirelessly support the grade 6 classrooms, with Esther stepping in wonderfully and Simone always willing to help in a pinch. We’re sure to see them both around as supply teachers! Stephanie Tigchelaar brought a year of positive attitude and top-notch work ethic to the grade 4 classroom, and we wish her well as she enjoys time with her daughter. After four years of dedicated work, Meghan Spoelstra will be missed, and we wish her God’s blessings in her future endeavors. Brandi Vanderee has been a quiet force for the past seven years, consistently providing quality instruction in the grade 2 classroom, and we wish her the Lord’s blessings as she takes a well-deserved breather. Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to Trudy VanLuik for 13 years of reliable, dependable, and safe busing services. We wish her God’s blessings in retirement and hope to see her on future school trips!
We also say farewell to the Bartels’ family as they head over to ACRES, and to the Riesebosh family. We will miss you and wish you God’s blessings in your future endeavors.
On a happy note, we’re excited to announce that we’ve recently hired Taylor Schipper as an Educational Assistant, and we look forward to welcoming her in the fall!
Class lists will be distributed today, along with the Class Redistribution Policy. A lot of effort went into creating these balanced lists, and teachers worked diligently with this policy.
Graduation will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Smithville Canadian Reformed Church. We invite all of you to this event. Students and their parents will attend a post-grad party at the Schulenberg residence.
If you still have any library books that haven’t been returned, we’ll be in school for the first few days of next week. Please bring them in so they can be sorted for the beginning of the next school year.
Our Library Committee has put together a Summer Reading Program that we’re excited to share, and you’ll find the flyers attached to the chronicle. We hope many of you will participate!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and individuals who have worked hard behind the scenes to make this year a success. The tremendous blessings in the operation of the school are evident in all the committee and volunteer work.
Again, it has been a pleasure to serve the community over the past year. I thank you for your continued support and trust. May you all be refreshed and rejuvenated over the summer. May God continue to protect and sustain all of you, and we look forward to seeing you, the Lord willing, on September 3rd as we start the 2025-2026 school year!

Grade 1
As we come to the close of this school year, our hearts are filled with gratitude. What a joy and privilege it has been to walk alongside your children as they’ve grown in confidence, curiosity, and character. From learning to read more fluently, to discovering new patterns in numbers, to sharing ideas in writing—each small step has added up to such meaningful growth.
We give thanks to God for His faithfulness throughout this year. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” We’ve seen this truth come to life in the learning and laughter that filled our classroom each day.
Thank you for your faithful support, encouragement, and prayers. Your partnership has made a lasting impact—not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. It has truly been a team effort, and your involvement has helped create a classroom rooted in love, trust, and joyful learning.
May your summer be filled with rest, wonder, and the continued presence of God’s peace. We look forward to seeing all that He has in store for your child in the years ahead.

Grade 7A
” Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.” With thankfulness we could bring the Gr. 7A year to an end. This past week we could enjoy a BBQ, baseball game, novel and the fine weather. As we reflect on the year that was, we recognize that the LORD blessed our efforts and graciously allowed us to go about our daily work. He guided us through sickness, broken bones, aches, pains, deaths and births. May He continue to walk with us this summer and into Grade Eight!
Grade 7B
Grade 7 had a busy but enjoyable last week of school. The Hobbit novel study was wrapped up as well as a final history presentation.
