“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Eph 6:11
It feels like we accomplished a week’s worth of work in just three days! While we may not have literally hit that mark, the energy and productivity certainly made it seem that way. It was truly heartening to see our parent-teacher interviews so well attended, often with both parents present. As we carry out the school’s mission to “assist and support parents in the education of their covenant children to the glory of God,” these conferences provide a vital, strong connection between the home and the school. This coming week, we will also have the opportunity to come together at the School Membership Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday at 8:00.
Our Book Month has been a success. We thank our organizers, Miss Oosterhoff, Mrs. Poort, Mrs. Stel, and Mrs. Tesfaye, for their efforts in organizing this month. Being that this is our culminating week, we will have a few extra activities. It will start with some trivia on the announcements specific to each grade, will have Mystery Readers come to the school on Tuesday and read to the classes between 10:30-12:00, and will have a Book Character dress-up day on Thursday. I look forward to seeing the wonderful assortment of characters for this day. A wonderful culmination to this month.
The Tripleball tournament will be held at Guido on Friday. The JCCS Defenders will be there with three teams, a boys, girls and coed team. We give special thanks to our volunteer coaches, Mrs. Janice Jonker, Mrs. Alayna Bos, and Mrs. Heather Werkman. It was a pleasure working alongside them in getting the teams together. Go Defenders!
Today we said farewell to Miss Clarissa Lof, who was under the tutelage of Mrs. Tesfaye, and Miss Megan Van Iperen, under the tutelage of Mr. Breukelman. We’re thankful that we could have them here and hope that they enjoyed their time here, and it helped fashion and shape their learning. We wish you the LORD’s blessing as you head back to CCRTC to finish up your studies.
I believe that is all for the week. God bless.

Some our concerned students have sent in the first letter EVER for our Chronicle – enjoy reading!
November 18, 2025
Dear Editor of the Chronicle,
The students and teachers should do a weekly clean up of the school and the buses. The earth is not ours and so we should help to keep it clean.
One day, can we have a competition to see who can pick up the most garbage at the school? Then the class with the most garbage wins a prize. The prize should be a classroom movie afternoon.
Sincerely, Abby R. and Avery B.

Kindergarten
We had a short week in kindergarten. It was nice to see all the parents this week to talk about your child’s progress. Please send in the report card envelopes if you haven’t done that yet. Today both classes enjoyed buddy reading with grade 6 and had fun in the gym learning some new passing and kicking drills. Next week our Bible stories will be about Joseph meeting his brothers in Egypt and how God provided for Joseph’s family. We are excited to see everyone dressed up for book character day on Thursday Nov. 27 (KA) and Friday Nov. 28 (KB). We hope you all enjoy your days off and have a blessed Sunday. DV/MV
Grade 1
Welcome back, dear parents. It was wonderful to meet with you and discuss the learning journey of your child. May our heavenly Father continue to bless you as you raise your children in the fear of His Name, and may He guide us as teachers in the support we offer. In Bible history, we will be turning to the book of Exodus, learning about Moses and God’s people. In Math, our focus next week will shift to reading the clock. The children greatly enjoyed their buddy reading time with the grade 8 students—thank you, grade 8, for showing such love and guidance to your younger brothers and sisters. We can also express the same appreciation to the grade 7 students for taking such good care of the grade 1s during skating. And of course, a big thank-you to the parents who came out to help tie skates and skate with us! We are looking forward to our Book Character Dress-Up Day next week!
Grade 2
It’s been a very short week but that doesn’t mean that we didn’t get anything done! We continue to hear about the many works that Jesus did on earth and we are learning how the parables also have a lesson for us and teach us how to live before God. Grade 2 has started chapter 4 in math on place value to the thousands and we are still learning about the six simple machines in science. A fun extra this week was the buddy reading with Grade 7 and we want to do it again! Enjoy this extra-long weekend! MB/LS/BS
Grade 3
It has been a short but productive week. We continue to read and the tree by the office is overflowing with leaves.
Thank you, parents, for taking the time to speak with us about your child’s education at JCCS. We truly appreciate your continued support, encouragement, and prayers. May the Lord continue to bless our efforts together, for His honour and glory. Grade 3B will have a French test covering the numbers 1-20 and the colours.
Hymn 17:1,3
Text: Proverbs 3:9,10
Please check your child’s agenda for the spelling words.
Grade 4
It was a short but productive week in Grade 4 with lots of learning. We are eagerly looking forward to going skating next week. We are looking for volunteers to come help tie skates as well as skate with us. Please let Mr. Reinink or Miss Jes know if you are able to help out. Don’t forget to pack a helmet for your child to wear on the ice. We are looking for a helmet that one of our students could use. If you are able to supply this, please let Miss Jes know. Next week in Grade 4A the students are taking turns leading lunchtime devotions. If your child is on for devotions, there is an orange paper in their agenda that needs to be filled out and signed by a parent. Please help your child with this. Enjoy the extra long weekend.

Grade 5
We have had another busy week in grade five. Both classes have begun exploring the courageous adventures of Mafatu in Call it Courage. Looking ahead to next week we have a number of things to look forward to. We are eagerly anticipating our Mystery Readers on Tuesday and are excited to listen to the stories that they have to share. On Thursday we have the opportunity to dress up as our favourite book character. We look forward to seeing all of the creative costumes! 5A will have a Unit 2 Bible test on Thursday as well as a Unit 3 math test on Friday. Once again, parents, please take the time to help your child study for these tests using the notes provided. Both 5A and 5B will be starting recorder soon so please ensure that your child has their recorder with them at school.
Devotions for next week are as follows:
5A: Quinn (M), Noa (Tu), Edwin (W), Julia (Th), Hailey (F)
5B: Veda (M), Ivan (Tu), Payton (W), Malachi (Th), Sawyer (F)
Enjoy your extra long weekend! CDV/KV
Grade 6
It was a pleasure to meet with the parents this week to discuss their child’s progress! This weekend, the students get to enjoy some extra time with the PD days on Thursday and Friday. The students have started typing some paragraphs for their bird research project. This week, we wrote two assessments in social studies and bible history (6A). Chat with your child about how they prepared and how they did overall. Results will probably come back to them next week. Looking ahead to next week, bring skating gear for Wednesday, and don’t forget to dress up on Thursday! Also, on Friday, the class will be going to the Canadian Heritage WarPlane Museum. Please do not bring microwavable foods on that day. Have a blessed weekend, CVA BK MJ
Grade 7A
With the end of our science unit, “Structural Strength and Stability”, and the conclusion of our stir stick bridge building project, we are moving on to our next unit in science, “Thermal Energy and Heat Technology”. In geography we’ll transition from global climate factors to local ones, focusing on elevation, relief and bodies of water. In order to become more proficient at public speaking, we’ll continue writing our own speech about a familiar topic, ourselves. We’ll finish off the main body paragraphs and work on the conclusion. While not yet a reformer, Martin Luther will present his concerns regarding the R.C.C. sacrament of penance and indulgences to a Cardinal. This will bring him closer to the realization that the R.C.C. has become a false church. Enjoy your weekend.
Grade 7B
We are ending the week with an afternoon of skating; first with the grade 1 class, then our grade 7 class. This is a great start to the extra long weekend! Next week, we will continue learning about Europe at the start of the Reformation in Church History. Students wrote their Chapter 3 test in History class on Tuesday. Those who were absent will write on Monday, after the P.D. days. Enjoy your weekend! RK
Grade 8
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Ms. Van Iperen and Ms. Lof. They have been wonderful additions to our classroom over the past four weeks, and we wish them the LORD’s blessings as they continue their studies and look forward to graduating from the CCRTC this year. Who knows—perhaps we will see them back again in a full-time teaching capacity in the future! Next week, we look forward to returning to our regular programming, culminating with the Tripleball tournament on Friday.
Have a great long weekend!
