“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Eph 6:11
It was a truly special event for our entire school to experience the International Plowing Match in Grassie! Students were able to see farm animals, explore equipment, and watch demonstrations of how life works on a farm. The various shows, featuring knights, lumberjacks, and dogs, made for an eventful outing—not to mention the free swag from vendors! It was a day of learning about agriculture and community spirit right here close to home.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce our first Early Years Morning of the school year on Thursday, September 25th. We look forward to welcoming all of our preschoolers and their parents to the school for a morning of fun activities and getting to know each other. These events are always a highlight, and we can’t wait to see you there!
Our grade 1 students are also looking forward to a field trip to the Safety Village as part of their social studies curriculum. This will be a great chance for them to learn important safety lessons in a fun, hands-on environment.
Finally, we’re gearing up for the big Soccer Tournament this Saturday! Games will be played at both JCCS and Southward Park. You can find the full schedule by clicking [here].
Wishing everyone a blessed last full week of September!

Kindergarten
We had a fun and busy week in Kindergarten. We went on our first class trip to the International Plowing Match; it was a great day out and some highlights were the Canadian cowgirls, the dog show, seeing farm animals and a bus ride! Check your child’s agenda for some papers and a free ticket to the IPM if you’d like to go on the weekend. On Wednesday we are going on a trip to Mountainview apple orchard. Thank you to the many volunteers who signed up, we are looking forward to another class trip. We have been busy filling up our hallway with the students’ artwork, which they love to see. Please continue to work on your All About Me pages and return them to school; we are excited to put them all together in a class book. Have a great weekend! DV/MV
Grade 1
We have journeyed with Abram from Ur to Canaan and reflected on the beautiful promises God made to him. What a blessing it is to know that God always keeps His promises. In math, we continue working with numbers and numerals, building a strong foundation for future learning. We’ve also practiced our fire drill, and the children have taken this very seriously — a great example of their growing responsibility. In phonics, we review the consonants and their sounds daily to prepare well for the start of our CKLA reading program. At the time of writing, we are all eagerly looking forward to our trip to the Plowing Match! A big thank-you to all the leaders who are able to join us. You’ll be hearing plenty of stories from your child about the day — we’re sure it will be one to remember! Next Friday we hope to go to the Safety Village. It is so much fun in grade 1!

We are also looking at wrapping up our first math unit soon, which was mainly a review of concepts taught in grade 1. In science, we remain busy learning about liquids and solids. Lots of progress is being made!

Week three is in the books, and things are really picking up steam in Gr. 6B. We had an exciting week with lots of learning, both in the classroom and at the Plowing Match. Thank you to those that volunteered to join us as chaperones on that trip!
We learned about Pope Gregory “the Great” in Church History, and are looking ahead to the impact of Charlemagne. Math has given us lots to work with in the area of whole numbers and decimals, and we will be taking a test at the end of next week. In Language Arts, we will continue to read through some short stories that challenge the way we view others’ perspectives. We will carry on with our regular schedule of spelling and vocabulary words. Phys. Ed. will continue to be outdoors, so bring proper outdoor footwear (no crocs!). Learning about how planes are able to fly will fill our time in Science next week, and we will be learning about the artistic element of line in art.

Next week Wednesday we’ll journey to Wainfleet Public Beach at Lakeshore Road in order to construct and test our own watersheds. Please contact T. Witten if you’d like to join us. Enjoy your weekend.
