“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Eph 6:11

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we are reminded of our school theme this year: putting on the armour of God. The wise men, guided by the star, showed wisdom and faith as they sought the newborn King, trusting God’s leading and standing firm in their journey. Their example reminds us that true wisdom is found in seeking Christ and living under His protection. As we rejoice in His birth, may we continue to grow in faith, daily putting on the armour God provides.

We have some birthdays for staff during the holidays! First, on December 31, Mrs. Schulenberg will celebrate her birthday and mark the turning of the year. Then, on January 3, Mr. Witten will celebrate his birthday. We give thanks for the many blessings we receive through the faithful service of these two staff members and pray that God will continue to grant them strength, joy, and guidance in the year ahead.

With these words, we wish you all a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year. We look forward to welcoming students back in 2026, D.V. You are warmly invited to attend our New Year’s assembly at 8:30 a.m. in the gym on Monday, January 5.

Wow, we can’t believe we just finished our last week of school in 2025. We are so proud of the students for their hard work over the last few months. The kids were able to decorate Christmas cookies and enjoyed skating on Wednesday. Thank you to all the parents who joined us at the arena.  We finished up our math unit on numbers 0-5 and everyone is looking forward to learning about numbers 6-10 in the new year.  We sent home your child’s extra clothes, please remember to bring back the updated bag of clothes in January.  We are looking forward to having some time off and we hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! Don’t forget to join us on January 5th for our assembly in the morning to celebrate the new year. See you all in 2026! DV/MV

Grade 1

The last school week of 2025 is in the books! We had a wonderful week filled with fun winter math activities and The Mitten reading activities. Your child will be coming home with their colouring pencils, as they could use some refreshing or replenishing over the break. After the holiday, we hope to go skating with Grade 7 again, and we look forward to seeing many of you there. The children (and their teachers!) are ready for a well-deserved break. Thank you for your thoughtful words and gifts—not expected, but truly appreciated. May the gift of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, bring joy to you all as we celebrate His birth on Christmas Day. God’s blessings to you in 2026.

Grade 2

It was an exciting time in Grade 2 this week. We changed this up for a different week of learning. We spent some of our Language Arts time working with both the literary elements of our Christmas Holidays Around the World packages, as well as working through a few fun activity and craft pages too. In Math we continue to work on learning how to tell time, and some strategies for that. In Bible classes, we focused on five points for advent, hope, peace, joy, love, and Christ as the final and foremost focus as we are looking forward to Christmas Day. Praying for a blessed and beautiful Christmas break, celebrating Him.

Grade 3

As we celebrate this special season, we wish you and your families a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year under the loving blessings of the Lord. We are reminded that our greatest gift is Jesus Christ, and we hold fast to the hope that He will come again to take us to His heavenly Kingdom. Thank you for the many cards, thoughtful gifts, encouraging words, and—most importantly—your continued prayers. We are truly grateful for the communion of saints. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6

Memory Work:  Psalm 135:2,3

Grade 4

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We wish you the LORD’s richest blessings as you celebrate the birth of Christ this holiday season. This past week was nothing short of entertaining and engaging. On Tuesday, we were blessed to have Rev. den Hollander visit our class and share about his life and work as a minister. On Wednesday, our Travel and Tourism Show took place, with many students eagerly presenting their research on the province or territory they studied. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and hard work on display. Looking ahead to next year, we are excited to begin several new units. In Bible, we will be studying the kings of Israel. In Science, we will explore the theory of light and its many properties. In Language Arts, we look forward to starting the well-known unit on King Arthur and the Round Table, which will also introduce students to life during Medieval Times. Lastly, thank you so much for the cards and gifts—they are greatly appreciated. We are truly thankful for your continued support.

Grade 5

We have made it to the Christmas holidays! This past week was a busy one with wrapping up some different units of study. Both classes have finished our science unit on “Properties of and Changes in Matter” and look forward to learning all about the human body and things we can do to take care of our bodies, recognizing that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. Both classes will also be moving into Theme 3 of World of Literature where we will be reading different fantasy stories. 5A will wrap up their unit on division during the first week of the new year, while 5B will start it! Parents, please remember to check your child’s agenda and to send it along with them to school.

Devotions for the first week are as follows:

5A: Noa (M), Edwin (Tu), Julia (W), Hailey (Th), Reid (F)

5B: Landon (M), Payton (Tu), Malachi (W), Sawyer (Th), Shawn (F)

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! CDV/KV

Grade 6

The students were able to complete their displays of their bird research projects. They are hanging in the hall for all to see so stop by and check them out! Many students are commended for being willing to lend a hand to their peers so that the job could get done. How fitting that this week’s memory work was Ps.133:1.  It was a beautiful example of the communion of saints at work.  Thanks to all those involved with serving lunch to the staff last Friday. We enjoyed the great food and fellowship. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. We wish you a blessed Christmas, and the LORD’s abundant blessings in 2026!

Grade 7A

This week brought an end to our study of the Reformation. Incredible! The entirety of Europe is determined to remain Roman Catholic and the Lord brings about a return to the Truth using weak and sinful people to do His will; post tenebras lux, Soli Deo Gloria! We moved on to a new chapter in geography, “Changing Patterns of Natural Vegetation”. Next year we’ll learn how natural factors, such as moisture, temperature, and soil , interact with vegetation. A big deal after the Break will be the Public Speaking and Poetry Declamation contest. Heading into the Break, students will have decided on a speech or poem, with the topic or poem already chosen. Next comes the speech writing and memorization of the poem. Enjoy your Break!

Grade 7B

We have read through and discussed the Lord’s work of Reformation through Martin Luther. We moved through the unit quickly, but the students completed the activities well. We have also finished many rounds of speaking and presenting in front of the class. You should be seeing some paperwork come home to approve of your child’s choice of topic or poem for the public speaking contest, which many are already excited about!

Thank you all for your support in 2025; wishing you all the best in the coming year. Enjoy the Christmas break! RK

Grade 8

It’s amazing how fast the first part of the year has gone as we come to the end of 2025. We wish everyone the LORD’s blessings through this Christmas season and look forward to celebrating the coming of another year. Enjoy your break! RT/TB
