“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Eph. 6:11
We are officially embarking on the final week of the 2026–2027 school year! It seems like just a few weeks ago we started the year talking about putting on the armour of God. We have been incredibly blessed to unpack this theme over the past 10 months. As soldiers for Christ, we can proudly proclaim “O Church Arise” as we seek to serve Him in all areas of life, whether that is in language, math, sports, science, or simple, neighbourly acts of service.
On Monday, come on out to the baseball field to watch the staff try, as Mr. Joosse has said, to teach the Grade 8 class one final lesson during our annual showdown. Our esteemed umpire, Mr. Roland VanAndel, will capably call the shots while doing his absolute best to avoid any stray pitches and stay safe.
The excitement continues on Tuesday as students head out to African Lion Safari and Canada’s Wonderland. These highly anticipated trips are bound to run beautifully thanks to the diligent, expert planning of Mrs. Rozema. If you are joining us as a chaperone, you will need a JCCS shirt or a royal blue shirt. If you do not have one, do not panic! You can easily borrow one from the school coat rack, just be sure to sign it out on the handy-dandy clipboard.
Friday marks the official finish line. Report cards will be coming home today, representing the culmination of a full year of growth and learning. We pray that they may be a blessing as we continue to shape and challenge each other in service to Him. We will also host our final assembly at 11:00 AM in the gym to give the school year one last enthusiastic “hurrah,” and all are welcome to attend. Please note that buses will depart at 12:00 PM to send your children home, leaving them officially in your hands for the summer!
Looking slightly ahead, our property cleanup day is scheduled for Saturday, June 27. These always prove to be surprisingly enjoyable days of community and fellowship, so please click this link to sign up for one of the tasks.
I believe that is everything for now. May God grant you all a wonderful, restful weekend!

Kindergarten
Another week has flown by in Kindergarten, only 2 ½ school days left after today. The much-anticipated field day is finally here. Thank you to Ladies’ Auxiliary and all the volunteers for providing yummy snacks and lunch today. On Wednesday we had fun celebrating the summer birthdays and enjoyed a popsicle to cool off along with other treats. Everyone is very excited for our African Lion Safari trip on Tuesday! Thank you to the many volunteers who are joining us, we hope you all enjoy the day out too. Please have your child wear a JCCS t-shirt or a similar coloured shirt on Tuesday. The splash pad will be open, so don’t forget to pack a bathing suit and towel for your child. Next week, we look forward to our final week of school and will wrap up the year with an assembly and early dismissal on Friday for both classes. Please continue to check backpacks and agenda bags regularly, as many items will be sent home throughout the week. Have a wonderful weekend. DV/MV
Grade 1
It has been a warm week, making it a little more challenging to concentrate, and yet we have continued to work diligently!
In Bible, the students heard about Daniel and then learned about the wonderful return of the exiles to Jerusalem. We marveled at God’s goodness and care throughout the years of exile, as well as His providence in moving King Cyrus’s heart. We are now beginning the stories of Esther, which will take us to the end of our Bible curriculum for the year.
In Math, our focus has been on problem-solving strategies and applying our mathematical thinking to a variety of situations.
Today was an exciting Play Day! Thank you to all the organizers and to the Grade 6 students for their excellent leadership throughout the day.
On Tuesday, we look forward to welcoming parent volunteers as we head to African Lion Safari. Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to join us. It’s going to be a great day! Students will need to bring a bathing suit, towel, hat, sunscreen, and plenty to drink.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Grade 2
Another exciting week has flown by! Our countdown activities brought a treat for track and field day, a picnic lunch outside, an extra recess, hat day, and a day in the dark with flashlights! We’re thankful such a fantastic day could be organized for the students today. In Grade 2 we’ve been practicing these activities and were looking forward to it. In our Science classes this week, we finished a research project to study an endangered animal and learned more about what it looked like, its habitat, predators, and diet. Thank you to Grade 6 for helping us 🙂 Please make sure to look for any missing books at this time! We are looking forward to one more week with our students!
Grade 3
With just one week ahead of us, we take a brief moment to look back over the last 10 months. We thank the Lord for His blessings and provisions over staff and students alike. What a blessing to have each of these students enter our class in September and have the opportunity to see them grow throughout the school year. God is good. In our last week, we would like to highlight a few things: parent chaperones for Tuesday’s field trip will receive additional information from the classroom teacher, in addition to that which was shared from the office. This includes the names of the students under your care for the day and important times within the day. We would love for you to attend our closing assembly in the gym on Friday, the same day on which report cards will go home. We hope that these reports are a good reflection of the students’ progress in Grade 3.If they haven’t already, students should return all school library books as soon as possible. That’s all for now,

Grade 4
This week, we learned about Nehemiah and Ezra helping to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. It was not an easy task, but the Lord gave them the strength they needed. In the same way, we challenge ourselves each day at school. Now that we are nearly finished, it is a great time to celebrate all that we have accomplished together. On Thursday, we celebrated reading, writing, and friendship with a Charlotte’s Web-themed school day. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make the day special. It was a lot of fun! On Monday, we will celebrate the graduating class by playing baseball against them. On Tuesday, we celebrated with the whole school by going to Canada’s Wonderland. What a hoot! On Thursday, we will celebrate physical activity by bringing our water guns to school and enjoying a fun soak at the end of the day. Last but not least, next week we will celebrate all that God has given us through reflection, prayer, and song. Have an amazing weekend, everyone!

Grade 5
It seems like just yesterday we were writing the first issues of the weekly Chronicle for grade 5 and now here we are, looking ahead to the final week of school. This past week was very busy as students have been working hard to finish up projects and assignments. Next week is an exciting week with lots of things to look forward to. Both classes finished the exciting Mystery at Cranberry Farm this past week and will continue to work on their cereal box book reports and commercials. On Tuesday we look forward to going to Canada’s Wonderland! We are very excited for this trip. Just a reminder to make sure that your child is wearing their JCCS shirt and to bring water, lots of food, and sunscreen. Students and volunteers will be told their groups on Monday. The rest of the week should be pretty straight forward as we look towards our last day on Friday! Devotions for next week are as follows:
5A: Lily (M)
5B: Landon (M), Gabriel (W), Veda (Th)
Enjoy your weekend! CDV/KV

Have a great week!
Grade 7B
High five, we’re still alive! What a lonely week we’ve had without the grade 8s sharing our hallway! Rest assured, the grade 7s kept the volume level up in our wing, especially during their final ukulele lesson with Mr. VanIperen. I hope the rest of the school appreciated their rendition of Sweet Caroline (ba ba ba!)
We also had to go a whole week without Mr. Witten, as he was in Ottawa. A huge thank you to Mrs. Tenhage for coming in this week!
We finished our Foundations in Personal Finance unit and will spend the final week coding. In History, we learned about the rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada and will spend our remaining classes learning about “Responsible Government at Last.” We will also have a fairly full week of The Hobbit, both the book and its movie adaptation. Hang in there, everyone – we’re nearly there! Have a great last week! RK
Grade 8
We are ready for the last week of 8th grade!
